Hamilton, ON – ACORN will be joined by tenants and allies at the Hamilton Tenant Rally for Big Landlord Licensing at City Hall on Tuesday July 18th from 12:30 to1:30 PM.

The rally takes place immediately before Hamilton ACORN Acting Chair Mike Wood speaks to the Rental Housing Sub-Committee meeting about the merits of a licensing system for apartment buildings over ten units, or three stories, in size.

What: Hamilton Tenant Rally for Big Landlord Licensing

When: Tuesday July 18th 12:30 – 1:30 PM (speakers start at 12:45)

Where: Hamilton City Hall

Why:  Tenant deserve to have health and safety standards upheld by the City.  That’s why ACORN is demanding a proactive system to protect tenants from substandard living conditions in Hamilton’s large apartment buildings.   The City of Toronto recently worked with ACORN and Landlords to create a Rental Housing By-Law that effectively licenses all landlords operating buildings of over ten units or three stories in size. This City of Toronto By-law is a replicable model for the City of Hamilton to adopt.
